My ratings for Atlanta United’s players from Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with New England at Gillette Stadium:
Goalkeeper Brad Guzan, 7: Distribution could have been better in the first half, he made three saves in the half and didn’t have too much to do in the rest of the game.
Centerback Franco Escobar, 7: Put his team in trouble when he tried dribble through the press in the first half. ... Still made a few tackles while contributing to the offense in the second half.
Centerback Michael Parkhurst, 7.5: With three players around him who haven’t played a lot of minutes in the past week, Parkhurst kept the defense organized and compact.
Centerback Chris McCann 7: Stepped back into the centerback role and played well. One nervy moment in the first half, but was composed after that.
Right wingback Julian Gressel, 8: Posted his fourth assist on Martinez’s goal.
Left wingback Mikey Ambrose, 7: Played well in his second start. ... Should have been awarded a penalty when he was bulled over in the second half as he was about to tap in a cross.
Holding midfielder Jeff Larentowicz, 7: Named the team’s man of the match, Larentowicz was solid on defense and helped the team break New England’s press throughout the game.
Midfielder Darlington Nagbe, 7: Posted his third assist on Martinez’s goal. ... Had a few giveaways in the first half, but grew into the game in the second half. ... Ran a lot on Wednesday.
Attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron, 7.5: Missed a few chances and had one free kick claim denied when he was tackled just outside of the box. ... Work on defense was exceptional.
Striker Ezequiel Barco, 7: Tough to score after a rough first half was flipped with a strong second half. ... Put himself into positions to score, but couldn’t capitalize.
Striker Josef Martinez, 8: Scored his ninth goal in the 23rd minute. .... Combined well with Barco and Almiron in the second half, but couldn’t put another in the net.
SUBS
Romario Williams, 7: Combined well with Barco on one shooting opportunity.
Kevin Kratz, 5: Was responsible for the penalty, but it was a soft call.
