Per ACC rule, Georgia Tech will be fined for storming the field
Georgia Tech will be fined for its fans coming onto the playing surface Saturday after the Yellow Jackets beat No. 12 Clemson 24-21.
Aidan Birr made a 55-yard field goal to give Tech the victory. After Birr’s kick cleared the goal posts, Tech students and fans rushed the field to create a memorable scene at Bobby Dodd Stadium. But per ACC rules, the celebration will cost the school.
The ACC announced in September an event security policy that fines member institutions $50,000. A second offense this season by Tech would result in a $100,000 fine.
All fines collected go into a postgraduate scholarship fund that helps ACC athletes pursuing graduate school.
Tech fans also rushed the field during the 2024 season when the Jackets beat Miami at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
