Coach Morris, a former defensive back at Hofstra, decided to play press coverage against star wide receiver Drake London on Monday.
London fully extended his arms and knocked Morris on his butt.
“I was actually throwing that ball,” Penix said. “He’s a coach now. He has to leave the ‘DB’ stuff back when he was playing.”
Morris tried to call offensive pass interference.
“No,” Penix said. “No. Nah, it wasn’t.”
Our guy Joe Patrick over at 92.9 The Game caught the showdown on video.
“It’s been brewing for a minute, though,” London told the Bleacher Report. “It’s been brewing for a minute. ... He’s been chirping. He’s gotten in front of me a couple of times. He’s put paws (hands) on me and things like that. I had to get him back right there.”
📈 Floyd the mentor: Veteran outside linebacker Leonard Floyd is serving as a mentor to rookie defenders Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr.
“Great, great guy,” Walker said. “The way he’s taken me and James under his wing. He’s been that veteran for us. The way that he mentors, helps us and leads and give us (advice) and things like that. What to look for in certain scenarios, (and he) always helps out.”
📈 Kicking battle: Younghoe Koo appears to have pulled ahead in the kicking battle with Lenny Krieg.
“He’s a great dude,” Koo said. “He works hard. I try to help him in any way that I can. At the end of the day, I just have to do my part, (and) be the best version of myself.”
Koo is trying to bounce back from a season in which he missed nine field-goal attempts, including two that were blocked. He said he doesn’t feel any pressure to rebound.
“It’s the same thing,” Koo said. “Week 1 comes, it doesn’t really matter what you’ve done or what you haven’t done in the past. What matters is right there. So, I just try to get ready for that.”
