It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s not even Superman. It was his buddies, however, appearing as a surprise for the patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Last week, the window washers at Children’s Arthur M. Blank Hospital donned superhero costumes as they scaled the building in what made for a particularly exciting day.

Spider-Man, Batman, the Flash and Captain America all came out to play, waving from the windows to the patients and giving their best superhero poses. The youngsters could not hold in their smiles as they watched their favorite comic book and movie characters appear right outside their rooms.

“This event was such a fun and creative way to bring smiles to our patients’ faces, and even the parents, too,” said Brooke Johnson, Children’s facilities property coordinator.

Johnson referred to the event as a small act of kindness on the part of the window washers, “turning an ordinary task into a moment of joy.”

Children’s often throws fun events and brings special guests within the comfort of patients’ rooms.

“Being part of this experience was truly unforgettable,” Johnson said.
