Women are better than men at multitasking, study says

The study, published in the journal of BMC Psychology, says women outperformed men on multitasking computer tests and real-life scenarios.

In the first experiment, both men and women were put through a computer test involving a high level of attention. Both sexes slowed down when more tasks were added, but women slowed less than the men. (Via Daily Mail)

In another experiment, both men and women were asked to find a key in a field. Researchers determined women were better than men at devising a plan to find the key. (Via The Telegraph)

The researchers say they decided to do this study because “there is practically no scientific research on this topic.” The study’s findings could have a big impact on the work world.

One of the study's co-authors told BBC, "Multitasking is getting more and more important in the office - but it's very distracting, all these gadgets interrupting our workflow. … It could be that men suffer more from this constant switching."
