Two women were allegedly raped at gunpoint between September and early February, and a Marietta man faces a dozen felony charges in connection with both incidents.
The first assault occurred just after 3 a.m. Sept. 18, 2013, when Lemon F. McMickens allegedly approached a woman in the parking lot in front of her Smyrna apartment building, prevented her from entering the apartment, flashed a handgun and demanded money from the woman, according to a Feb. 19 arrest warrant.
The woman retrieved $80 from her car and gave it to McMickens, authorities said. But McMickens allegedly forced the woman to the back of the apartment building at gunpoint, made her perform a sex act and raped her, according to the warrant.
The second incident occurred between 3 a.m. and 4:10 a.m. Feb. 1 along a wooded trail in Marietta, according to another warrant. Authorities said McMickens accosted another woman just south of the Franklin Road EZ Serve convenience store, ordered her to surrender her backpack and brandished a handgun.
According to the warrant, he allegedly threatened to shoot the woman before forcing her into an apartment complex and down a wooded trail, where the assault took place.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution does not name victims of sexual assault.
McMickens was arrested Feb. 11 in Marietta on a number of unrelated drug charges. He is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on multiple charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping and rape.
