A Kentucky deputy jailer came home to a clean house and well-fed pets Saturday, courtesy of a woman who broke into her residence, WKYT reported.
Erica Sampson, a corporal at the Lincoln County Regional Jail, had finished her overnight shift when she entered her home in Crab Orchard and found an unwelcome visitor.
"When I went in the house, the house was clean and the dogs didn't bark and so I walked in and I kind of listened and she came from out of the kitchen," Sampson told WLEX.
Heather Owens, 38, faces breaking and entering charges and possession of drug paraphernalia, WKYT reported. In addition to her housekeeping, Owens also took a shower and took a nap in Sampson's bed, officials told the television station.
Sampson said that except for some dirty dishes, the only things out of place in her home was a missing cellphone and some jewelry, WLEX reported.
“I’m pretty sure that she took a shower and slept in my bed. My jewelry box was went through but other than that it’s just strange,” Sampson told the television station.
Authorities said Owens believed the house belonged to her. According to her arrest citation, Owens grabbed a knife and ran from the home after confronting Sampson, WKYT reported.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office officials said they found two syringes and a marijuana pipe in Owens’ backpack, the television station reported.
