Once again, American fast-food is pushing the limit overseas. The culprit this time: KFC China.
The Nanfang reports that KFC China will be releasing pink and black burger buns on their meals in the future. The buns will be used on chicken burgers sold at the company's Chinese locations.
The buns come with the “black diamond bacon spicy chicken leg burger” and the “rose cheese roasted chicken leg burger,” each at a price of about $2.80 U.S.
The Nanfang speculates the company is looking to cross-promote with a popular Japanese anime, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica,” which is a hit with Chinese audiences. The costumes of the main characters share the same colors as the burger buns from KFC.
This isn't the first time an American fast-food company has tried different color buns overseas. Burger King released red burger buns, called "Aka Samurai Beef" and "Aka Samurai Chicken," in June. The company served the burgers with red buns, red cheese, and red tomatoes, including a sauce known as "angry sauce" for a little spice.
