She looks more like a grandmother than a murderer, but police in Russia said she has reportedly confessed to killing at least 10 people over two decades.
What is worse, police said Tamara Samsonova, 68, beheaded and dismembered her victims, keeping a diary of the crimes she's accused of committing, Sky News is reporting.
A security camera captured Samsonova carrying several large plastic bags out of her apartment building, CNN reported.
Police said those bags contained the remains of Valentina Ulanova, 79.
Samsonova was living with the victim as a caregiver.
Samsonova seemed to celebrate by clapping her hands as she was being sent to prison when the judge told her she would be in custody.
"I have nowhere else to live. I am a very old person, and I put the whole matter to rest deliberately,” Samsonova said. "I have thought 77 times about it and then decided that I must be in prison. I will die there and the state will probably bury me."
Police have not said specifically why they are investigating cannibalism and the occult, but said that she kept detailed descriptions in Russian, English and German of the murders. The diaries were kept near books about black magic and astrology, Sky News reported.
Police said she has confessed to the motives in at least two killings, CNN reported.
They are now looking at other unsolved murders stretching back 20 years.
A man's body was found on the same street where Ulanova's remains were found. He was missing a head, arms and legs, but police said they found evidence in her apartment, including the man's business card and diary entries that described the man's tattoos, Sky News reported.
Another apartment building tenant’s body was found dumped in plastic bags around the city. She has apparently admitted to that murder also, Sky News reported.
