According to a report Thursday, Joshue Holoman, 30, then tried to convince officers he was a repairman who was atop the Sunoco station at 3 a.m. Tuesday because he had heard the air conditioners making noise. Officers didn't believe that one, either.

Finally, police said he told them he had been sleeping on the roof and had smeared tar on himself so he wouldn't be seen. Officers said that since he had a prying tool with him, they think he was a would-be burglar and charged him accordingly.

A police report stated that while being taken to jail, Holoman became violent and broke a $500 metal panel inside the prisoner transport vehicle.

Holoman is in the Volusia County Jail on $4,000 bail.
