Metro Atlanta’s trend of wet, chilly weather is expected to come to an end Wednesday as sunshine and balmy temperatures move in, according to the latest forecast.
“We’ll have more sunshine for you today and warmer temperatures,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
The morning is off to a chilly start, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. It’s also a bit wet out, as some areas south of metro Atlanta are receiving light rain. However, that won’t be the case for very long, according to Channel 2.
“The heaviest rain that’s actually falling is quickly moving over to the east,” Monahan said.
The rain will move out entirely by the afternoon, and then we’ll be in the sunshine through the weekend, Monahan said.
“It’s going to beautiful for your Wednesday, your Thursday and your Friday,” he said.
By 1 p.m., temperatures will climb up to the day’s high of 62 degrees.

Eight of Wednesday’s 11 daylight hours will be sunny, Monahan said. Thursday and Friday will be even brighter, with 11 and nine hours of sunshine, respectively.

It’s an easy ride through most of metro Atlanta, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Drivers should use caution during the morning commute due to wet pavement, but there are no trouble spots on major interstates.
