With only light showers and sporadic storms in the forecast, Wednesday is expected to be much, much drier than the first part of the week.

“We are going to have a little more sunshine, too,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Metro Atlanta is in better shape than it has been during the past few mornings. Most areas are off to a dry start with temperatures in the mid-70s.

“Yes, there are a couple of sprinkles, but it’s not the widespread rain we’ve seen,” Monahan said.

A large portion of the day will be sunny, according to Monahan. The sun’s rays will peek out during about seven of the day’s 13 daylight hours.

With plenty of sunshine in the forecast, temperatures are expected to increase quickly, Monahan said. In the afternoon, they will top out at about 86 degrees.

However, there is still a 40% chance of rain in the forecast. Isolated storms and pop-up showers will likely move into the metro around lunchtime, but they will pass by quickly, Monahan said.
