If North Georgia has to be stuck in a weather pattern, this is a pretty good one to repeat.

Wednesday will see more of the same sunshine and springlike warmth the region has enjoyed the previous two days, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan. The weather has hit a “sweet spot,” he said.

“Temperatures are a little chilly in the morning, really nice in the afternoon, and we’re going to keep that going all the way through the week and into most of your weekend as well,” Monahan said.

Atlanta is headed for a high of 72 degrees Wednesday, according to Channel 2. Those stepping out for work and school will want to dress in layers, however, as temperatures are in the 30s and 40s this morning.

With the beautiful weather, lots of sunshine and comfortable levels of humidity, Monahan said he is surprised pollen counts have not exploded. Atlanta Allergy and Asthma’s pollen count for Tuesday was just 69 particles per cubic meter of air, which is still in the moderate range.

The tree pollen is there, Monahan said. It’s only a matter of time before pollen counts hit four digits.

“It’s got to be right around the corner as warm as these temperatures have been, and the sunshine starting to increase,” he said.

Monahan expects temperatures will reach the mid-70s by Friday and the upper 70s by the weekend. But he cautioned that North Georgia is not done with winter just yet.

“We are still going to get cold,” he said. “I promise you that. It’s the month of March ... we can still get freezes this time of year.”

The average date for the last freeze is March 23. For that reason, Monahan suggests holding off on spring planting until after Easter.

A problem-free weather forecast has so far translated to a problem-free morning drive. There are no major delays on metro Atlanta interstates at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Even the Downtown Connector is running smoothly.

“It’s a beautiful ride in Midtown on I-75/85, but things can change in an instant,” the Traffic Center reported.
