For those keeping score, Wednesday will mark the fourth straight day of sunshine and dry conditions for North Georgia.

Temperatures reached the 80s under all that sun Tuesday, and Wednesday should be even warmer with a projected high of 83 degrees. Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said it is “clear sailing” for at least a few more days.

“We’re going to be up in the 80s the next couple of days,” Monahan said. “No big weather problems to deal with. Even though there is some rain in the forecast on Friday, that is not going to come with the risk of any strong or severe storms.”

Monahan has downgraded Friday’s chance of showers and storms to 40%. Rain will be less widespread, he said, and there is no risk any storms will turn severe.

“That is some good news for your Friday,” he said. “A little drier Saturday, and then Sunday I have added back a chance of rain to the forecast.”

Showers are only 20% likely Sunday, according to Channel 2.

Despite the recent string of dry days, pollen levels are falling. Tuesday’s count of 111 pollen particles per cubic meter of air is still considered to be in the high range, but not by much, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma. The organization tracks the daily pollen count.

Trees remain the top contributors to the count, but weed pollen and mold activity were also big factors Tuesday, according to the organization.

Monahan said humidity remains low, but Wednesday will feel noticeably stickier than the day before. Humidity will continue to rise through Friday before dropping behind a cold front on Saturday, he said.

With the weather looking up, metro Atlanta traffic is following suit. Conditions are improving on I-75 South after a tractor-trailer overturned in Bartow County on Wednesday morning, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

All lanes are now open in Cartersville after authorities cleared the scene of the crash investigation about 6 a.m. No alternates are needed as traffic recovers, according to the Traffic Center.

Another crash that had lanes blocked on Fulton Industrial Boulevard south of I-20 has also cleared. There are no lasting impacts to I-20 on the Westside, the Traffic Center reported.
