North Georgia will get some welcome relief from the heavy rain and strong winds that tore through the state over the last two days, and the drier weather should stick around for the weekend.
The remnants of Hurricane Sally knocked down trees, flooded busy roadways and left thousands without power Thursday. Friday, however, will be a different story.
Gooooood morning! It's a MUCH quieter morning (you're welcome @MarkArum!) -- tracking a cold front moving through and a much cooler weekend...

“Let that rain jacket and umbrella dry. You will not need it today and you will not need it over the next few days," Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said. “While there are going to be some clouds around, it should be dry this weekend.”
Friday morning’s temperatures are in the upper 60s, and the afternoon high is expected to reach 81 degrees as Atlanta sees a mix of clouds and sunshine, according to the latest forecast.

“It’s a warmer day,” Monahan said. “With that sun, we’ll be back up in the low 80s for highs later on this afternoon.”
A cloudy start to the weekend will keep tomorrow’s high at just 71 degrees in the city, but there is no rain in the forecast for the next five days. Morning temperatures will start to drop as fall approaches, and with lows in the 40s and 50s next week, metro Atlanta is expected to see some of coolest air of the season, Monahan said.
