A Walton County boy was injured Wednesday after authorities said he jumped from a school bus window and landed on a passing pickup truck.
Ga. 81 was shut down at Youth Monroe Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. as authorities responded to the incident. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the boy’s bus was stopped in a northbound turn lane when the child jumped from a rear window on the right side.
“The juvenile male fell onto a northbound passing pickup truck and then landed in the northbound lane of Ga. Highway 81,” the GSP said in an emailed statement.
The boy, whose name was not released, was taken to a Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta location with what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries. It wasn’t immediately clear why he jumped from the bus.
The state highway was shut down for about an hour and a half as police investigated.
