Van thieves elude police after crashing on I-285
Fulton County police are looking for two people who allegedly stole a minivan, led authorities on a chase on I-285 and crashed into a vehicle before wrecking near the Cascade Road exit.
A west Atlanta resident called 911 Friday afternoon after he saw some men taking a Green Dodge Caravan from his residence, and police spotted the van soon afterward, Cpl. Kay Lester said.
A chase began and the minivan struck a vehicle. The person in the vehicle had no visible injuries, but complained of pain. Shortly after the wreck, the minivan crashed and its two occupants ran from police, Lester said.
“We were unable to catch them,” said said.
Police are investigating the vehicle theft, Lester said.
