A Union City motorist is facing vehicular homicide charges after a teen fell from his vehicle and died Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to an injured person call just after 1 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex in the 4700 block of Flat Shoals Road, according to Union City police spokesman Chris Murphy.
“Upon arriving, officers met with Malik McDaniel, who stated he was driving an automobile around the complex while his friends stood on the vehicle’s running board and clung to the outside,” Murphy said in an email. “While driving around, Sandreus Hillsman, a 17-year-old resident of the complex, fell from the vehicle and struck his head on the ground. Hillsman was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, but died.”
Murphy said McDaniel was booked into the Fulton County Jail, charged with reckless conduct, driving on a suspended license and homicide by vehicle.
