A herd of cows got loose from a pen and caused a traffic jam in a Miami suburb Friday morning, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Dozens of the bovines were found strolling through the town, which stopped drivers who paused to take cellphone videos, WSVN reported.

“There was a lot of excitement in the town ’cause the cows got out,” Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid told the television station.

According to Clarisell De Cardenas, a spokeswoman for the town of Miami Lakes, police were called but the cows were already mooo-ved back into their pen by the time officers arrived.

"A caretaker went in to the field to give them feed and fresh water and must have left the gate open," De Cardenas told the Miami Herald. "For about 10 to 15 minutes, the cows were out in the streets, but he was able to corral them pretty quickly."

“It was a funny scene,” De Cardenas told the newspaper. “This is the first time we’ve heard anything like this happen. A fun day.”

Cid alerted commuters on social media that cows had been moving along a commercial area of the town, and were loose for about 20 minutes, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

People on social media had a field day posting photos and videos.

"Who let the cows out, moo moo moo moo," wrote Renee Sweeney on Miami Lakes' Facebook page.
