Rain will return to North Georgia on Tuesday for the start of a wetter weather pattern, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Showers are just 20% likely Tuesday, but rain chances are increasing each day this week. Some neighborhoods, especially those in far North Georgia, could see up to 3 inches of rainfall before the week is up, Channel 2 meteorologist Eboni Deon said.
Deon said most of Tuesday will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers beginning late Tuesday afternoon.
“While I think its a good idea to have the umbrella, I don’t think you will need it today,” she said. “Just have it as a precaution just in case you get underneath one of those passing showers.”
Despite the rain clouds, Deon said metro Atlanta will warm up quickly. The city is starting the day mild in the mid-50s and should reach the mid-60s by lunchtime, she said.
The projected high Tuesday is 69 degrees, which is just above average for this time of year.
“I’m going to be watching a little bit of rain moving across Alabama, getting into our area late this afternoon into this evening,” Deon said. “Mainly just dealing with some isolated rain showers, but those rain chances are going to be going up later on this week.”
She said North Georgia will even add some storms into the mix. Scattered thunderstorms are 40% likely Thursday, and widespread storms are 60% likely Friday morning, according to Channel 2. Saturday also has a 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms.

There are no major delays on metro Atlanta interstates as the Tuesday morning drive gets underway, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
“The interstates are lighter than normal,” traffic reporter Mark Arum said at 6 a.m. “Certainly no reason to rush out of the house.”
