Traffic is flowing again on I-675 in Clayton County after an injury crash shut down the interstate for hours Friday morning.

The northbound lanes were closed north of Ga. 42 near Rex Road about 5 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. Just before 8:30 a.m., authorities began reopening the lanes after wrapping up their investigation, the Traffic Center reported.

Clayton County police confirmed to AJC.com the crash involved multiple vehicles. No other details have been released.

During the shutdown, there were heavy backups on I-675, which is the main alternate to I-75 through the Southside, the Traffic Center reported. Delays persisted through the remainder of the morning rush.
