Pedestrian killed in crash that shut down Covington Highway
All lanes of Covington Highway were shut down while DeKalb County police investigated a deadly crash Wednesday morning.
Authorities shut down a busy DeKalb County road Wednesday morning after a pedestrian was hit and killed.
All lanes of Covington Highway were closed at South Indian Creek Drive for more than two hours after the wreck, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. The lanes began reopening at 7:15 a.m., but delays remained even after the scene was cleared.
A body could be seen lying in the middle of Covington Highway during a crash investigation Wednesday morning.
According to DeKalb police, the pedestrian was struck about 5 a.m. in the 4300 block of Covington Highway by a driver headed west. The pedestrian’s name was not released.
The incident remains under investigation, a spokeswoman for the police department said. She was unaware of any charges.
