All southbound lanes of I-85 were shut down at Camp Creek Parkway after the crash.

A multivehicle crash near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport shut down I-85 South and caused heavy delays Thursday morning, authorities said.

No one was seriously injured in the wreck, which was reported shortly after 6 a.m., according to College Park police Lt. Cody Smith. A woman in a passenger car wrecked and became stalled in the far left lane, causing a chain reaction that picked up four other vehicles, Smith said.

The woman and another driver were taken to a hospital to be checked out for injuries, but both were alert and talking when traffic investigators arrived. Medics in a Coweta County ambulance who happened to be traveling in the area were the first ones on scene, Smith said.

The crash blocked all lanes at the Camp Creek Parkway exit for about an hour before it was cleared just after 7 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

At the height of the backups, delays stretched all the way into the city on the Downtown Connector.
