Q: What happened to Pete Rose? How old is he? Has he ever repented?

—Bob Collins, East Point

A: Rose, who holds the Major League Baseball record with 4,256 career hits, is 73 and lives in Las Vegas. Rose often travels to baseball card and memorabilia shows, and private autograph signings, where he charges to sign items such as jerseys, photos and bats.

Rose admitted to betting on baseball in a 2004 interview with Charlie Gibson but remains banned from participating in MLB events and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. “People have to understand I wish this would have never happened,” he said in the interview. “But I can’t change it, it’s happened. And sitting here in my position, you’re just looking for a second chance.” Rose’s 2013 reality TV show with fiancee Kiana Kim called “Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs.” was canceled by TLC after only four episodes.

Q: Does the European PGA allow Americans to play in the Race to Dubai?

—Richard Martin, Austell

A: U.S. golfers can take part in the Race to Dubai if they compete as a full-fledged European Tour member and earn enough money to finish in the top 60 of the Race to Dubai standings, Ryan Lavner, a writer for the Golf Channel, told Q&A on the News in an email. Americans Brooks Koepka and David Lipsky, who won the European Masters earlier this month, are in position to qualify this year. The top 60 finishers in the Race to Dubai will compete in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in November.
