Four suspected leaders of a Gwinnett County gang are now in custody on a total of 26 felony charges and 13 misdemeanors, police said Thursday.
The investigation into the “Top Rank Goons” or “TRG” gang began in June after shots were fired at a party in Dacula, according to Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett police.
The gang also is suspected in a shooting last month at the Reserve at Ivy Creek apartments in Buford, Smith said. On Sept. 19, several TRG members were at the basketball courts when members of a rival group approached with a gun and fired several shots, striking one person in the leg, according to police. Carrington Frye, 17, was charged in that shooting.
Another incident under investigation involved a woman’s claims that she was harassed and intimidated at the Mall of Georgia by the gang because her boyfriend had gotten into a fight with a member, Smith said. The woman had her 6-month-old baby with her at the time.
Police SWAT team members executed search warrants, which led them to several guns, including one that had been stolen. Four alleged top-ranking members of the gang were arrested.
Anton Swanigan, 22, his brother Antwan Swanigan, 20, David Satterwhite, 20, and Josh Neptune, 19, each face numerous charges, including aggravated assault, battery, terroristic threats and acts, participation in gang activity and weapons charges, according to police. All four were being held Thursday without bond at the Gwinnett County jail.
