The first of three suspects identified in the July 3 shooting of a Newton County man is in prison in Florida on separate charges, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Abdul Davon Williams, 23, also known as Lil Dreads, is in Orange County Jail on charges of murder, possession of cannabis and resisting an officer, according to Channel 2, and there has not been a set time or date for his extradition. A warrant for murder has been issued for Williams in Georgia in connection with the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old Newton County man, the sheriff’s office said.

Two other suspects in the shooting remain unidentified.

Adrian Riccardo Brooks was shot in the abdomen about 8 p.m. July 3 at his girlfriend’s Covington duplex in the Gum Tree subdivision off Kirkland Road, Newton sheriff’s Capt. Keith Crum told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Brooks’ girlfriend, who has not been named, told police three unknown men shot Brooks and fled in a white four-door vehicle similar to a Toyota Camry or VW Jetta. Brooks was taken to a local hospital where he later died, Crum said.

Police are also looking for a second suspect described as a black man with long dreads, about 35 to 40 years old weighing between 160 and 180 pounds and the third suspect sought is described as a 30 to 35 year old Hispanic man weighing between 155 and 165 pounds with with long, dark, straight hair.

The motive in the case is unknown and the incident remains under investigation.
