Metro Atlanta residents celebrating the unofficial end of summer will find comfortable weather continuing through the holiday weekend.
The next two days will be warm, and the rain is expected to hold off through Labor Day, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said. That’s good news for those looking to soak up some sunshine before temperatures start to drop.
Sunday is expected to start off slightly cooler than normal, with temperatures in the upper 60s, Deon said. The afternoon high is expected to reach 87 degrees in Atlanta, but lower humidity levels will make it feel less muggy than last weekend.
“We’re not dealing with the hot and humid conditions we’ve had around,” Deon said. “We have some very comfortable conditions on the way and our Labor Day weekend forecast looks fantastic.”
While some clouds could develop south of the city on Sunday afternoon, metro Atlanta shouldn’t see any rain. Scattered showers and pop-up thunderstorms aren’t expected to return until at least midweek.

“No matter what your plans are, if you’re heading out and about, you should be in pretty good shape,” Deon said.
Fewer families are expected to hit the road this holiday weekend because of the pandemic, but the Georgia Department of Transportation is still suspending interstate construction projects that require lane closures until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Major highways that typically receive heavy tourist traffic will also have limited lane closures this weekend, GDOT said.
