The chilly conditions are expected to continue Sunday and most of the week leading up to Thanksgiving Day.
North Georgia and much of the state have gotten below-average temperatures since the arctic cold front Oct. 11, and it’s not expected to get much warmer. Sunday will be slightly cooler than Saturday, with a high of 49 degrees and a low of 29 degrees.
The morning will start out mostly cloudy and a bit breezy. By the afternoon, some of the clouds will have cleared, but it won’t feel much warmer. Despite the cool temperatures, no freeze warning is in place, though you may notice a bit of frost in your yard.
“In the afternoon, more of a northwest wind that could pick up at times coming in at around 20 mph. So that’s going to keep things a little on the cooler side for us,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Jennifer Lopez said.
Warmer conditions are on the horizon for Monday with a high of 56 degrees and a low of 39 overnight. Some rain is expected Tuesday, but only a few stray showers should dampen your day. Wednesday is projected to be the warmest day of the week at 60 degrees before more rain moves in by Thursday.
Thanksgiving Day will be primarily overcast with scattered showers. We’ll see a high of 58 degrees with a low of 46 degrees. If you’re used to spending your Thanksgiving outside, an alternate plan may not be such a bad idea.
