The Republican race for Georgia secretary of state appears to be heading to a runoff between state Rep. Brad Raffensperger and former Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle.
Meanwhile, former U.S. Congressman John Barrow defeated two other Democratic Party candidates for secretary of state. Barrow won a majority of votes, meaning he advances to the Nov. 6 general election without a runoff.

Raffensperger, who represents Johns Creek, received the most votes in the Republican primary. He's the CEO of an engineering design firm who has said he would eliminate red tape when businesses file documents with the state.
Belle Isle, who led the city of Alpharetta for five years, has said he would work to prevent the potential for voter fraud through mailed-in absentee ballots.
Raffensperger and Belle Isle will compete in a July 24 runoff. They defeated state Sen. Josh McKoon, R-Columbus, and state Rep. Buzz Brockway, R-Lawrenceville.
The winner of the Republican runoff will face Barrow, who has said the state of Georgia should replace its electronic voting machines with a more secure, paper-based system. He wants the state to use paper-and-pen ballots that can't be hacked.
