A Snellville man has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, after a dog was found with its mouth taped shut at a home in Gwinnett County.

Antonio Furlow is in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond, according to online jail records.

A neighbor called police after seeing a black pit bull with electrical tape around its mouth, Channel 2 Action News reported.

When officers arrived, they said the pit bull, whose name is Bullet, was “very skinny and emaciated.” Police said the dog’s mouth was bleeding and swollen.

Neighbor Linda Jefferson told Channel 2 that she couldn’t believe what she saw.

“It touched my heart because I couldn’t stand to see a dog be abused,” she said.

The dog was transported to Eastside Animal Medical Center for treatment, authorities said.

The neighbor, who originally called police, said the dog lived in the 3000 block of Parkside Court and belonged to Furlow, Channel 2 reported.

A woman who answered the phone at the animal hospital declined to release any information on Bullet or confirm whether he was there.

The case remains under investigation, authorities said.
