A Marietta woman who was reported missing days ago was identified Thursday night as the victim in a single-car wreck in Bartow County.
Danisha Williams, 24, died from trauma related to the crash, Bartow Coroner Joel Guyton told AJC.com on Friday. The Bartow sheriff’s office also confirmed the deadly wreck, but referred additional questions to the Georgia State Patrol, which is handling the investigation. That agency has not released details.
Though Williams was last seen in Bartow early Saturday morning, Marietta police pleaded for the public’s help in finding the woman, posting her picture on their Facebook page Tuesday. The post was shared thousands of times.
According to Channel 2 Action News, Williams' ex-boyfriend told family members that she dropped him off in Cartersville around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after a night out in Union City. She was on the phone with a friend in the Emerson area when it cut out, the news station reported.
Williams' sister, Tangela Sanders, shared the tragic update on Facebook.
“They found my sister in the Emerson area and she is no longer with us,” she wrote.
In a comment on the Facebook post from Marietta police, Sanders wrote: “My sister and the car have been found and she will not be coming home. She has passed. It seems that she ran off the road while driving home.”
