Parts of Middle Georgia were rattled by a minor earthquake early Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A 2.3 magnitude quake was reported near Macon about 1:30 a.m., the organization said.

The earthquake was relatively shallow, and the exact depth is not clear. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reached out to USGS for more details.
