A pregnant woman and her baby died after a wreck in Cherokee County on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Tiffany Robbins, 26, of Acworth, was making a turn from Victory Drive when she pulled into the path of a truck traveling north on Woodstock Road, according to a news release from Lt. Jay Baker, a spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Robbins, who was seven months pregnant, was conscious and alert at the scene, he said. She and her 2-year-old daughter, who was in a car seat in the back of their Honda Accord, were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Robbins was also wearing her safety belt.

Robbins’ newborn did not survive after an emergency Cesarean section, and Robbins died from internal injuries after the procedure, Baker said.

The 2-year-old survived the crash, but there was no immediate word on her condition.

The driver of the truck involved in the wreck was not seriously injured and was not treated at a hospital.
