Atlanta police Wednesday were investigating a homicide at the Bedford Pine Apartments on Boulevard.

Officers responding to a “person down” call just after 9 a.m. Wednesday found a woman dead inside an apartment, according to Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton.

“There is evidence of foul play,” Hampton told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We’ll have to wait for the autopsy to find out the cause of death. That will take place tomorrow morning.”

He said investigators believe the woman was the sole occupant of the apartment.

While police have not identified the victim, the woman’s daughter, who was called to the scene, identified her as 49-year-old Janice Hutchison.

“I’m in a state of shock,” said daughter Shuwona Hutchison. “I’m hurt, devastated. My mom was just here, and now she’s gone.”

Shuwona Hutchison pleaded that anyone with information on what happened “come forward and share any little detail to find this person who murdered my mom.

“I’m without a mom, my kids are without a grandparent and my aunts and uncles are without a sister. And we’re left without a friend.”
