At least nine people have been injured in a crash involving several cars and two tractor-trailers on I-285 southbound Monday afternoon in DeKalb County, according DeKalb County Fire Rescue officials.
Fire Captain Eric Jackson said the patients’ injuries ranged from minor to moderate and they were transported to area hospitals. One of the tractor-trailers was destroyed in the crash, which occurred south of East Ponce de Leon Avenue, but he did not know the cause or exactly how many cars were involved.
Jackson said traffic is now moving slowly, but he estimates at least an hour and a half before traffic clears up.
Those seeking to avoid the traffic should take an alternate route. WSB 24-hour Traffc Center recommends Highway 78, Brockett Road or I-85.
