One pedestrian was killed and another injured within about 10 minutes Monday morning in separate incidents on I-285 in DeKalb County.

Around 8:30 a.m., a pedestrian was struck and injured on I-285 northbound near Memorial Drive, according to police. The identity of the person hit and details surrounding why that person was on the interstate were not immediately available.

The two right lanes of I-285 northbound were blocked while police investigated the incident.

About 10 minutes later, the body of an adult black female was found along a Spaghetti Junction ramp by employees arriving to work at an office park adjacent to the interstate, according to Capt. Steven Fore with DeKalb police.

The apparent hit-and-run left Saquena Williams, 29, of Doraville dead, Fore said.

“Her injuries appeared consistent with those that would be sustained from being struck by a motor vehicle,” Fore said in an email. “Exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.”

Williams was the third pedestrian hit on or near a DeKalb interstate in less than 36 hours.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, a pedestrian was hit and killed on I-285 westbound near Ashford Dunwoody Road. Investigators said Monday that Darryl Spencer Ward, 51 of Lawrenceville, was trying to elude police when he attempted to cross I-285.
