The Chicago Fire Department said Friday night that one person was killed and another person transported to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition after a shooting at a Nordstrom store in downtown Chicago. (Source: WGNTV.com)
The shooting happened near the cosmetics department and appeared to be domestic-related, according to a local newspaper report. (Source: ChicagoTribune.com)
"According to sources, a man shot a woman and then turned the gun on himself. The man was dead at the scene, and the woman was in critical condition. The woman was a seasonal employee at Nordstrom, according to a source," the Tribune reported.
The shooting happened at 55 E. Grand Ave., an area known as the Magnificent Mile. The store was filled with Black Friday shoppers at the time of the shooting. (Source: Chicago.cbslocal.com)
Nordstrom released a statement after the shooting on Friday evening:
"There was a shooting at our Michigan Avenue store this evening, involving one of our employees. Our employee has been transported to the hospital. We are actively working with the Chicago Police Department, as this is an open and ongoing investigation. Our store has closed and will remain closed until further notice.
