Two more DeKalb County cities plan to follow the lead of their neighbors and fully reopen their city halls to the public.
Chamblee reopened its government buildings Monday morning for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. Pine Lake, the least populous city in the county, will vote Tuesday on whether to reopen their city hall next week.
They’re joining Avondale Estates and Doraville, who fully reopened their government buildings last week, and all 12 DeKalb cities have at least partially reopened their city hall at this point. Many cities have resumed holding their meetings in-person, but they’ve all continued to stream them or offer virtual methods for residents to attend — a practice that’s expected to become permanent.
In a news release, Chamblee said it will continue to offer online services, such as virtual inspections and remote recreational programming, while also offering those services at City Hall. The building, located at 5468 Peachtree Road, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
If Pine Lake city leaders vote to reopen their building, it’ll reopen next Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The building, located at 462 Clubhouse Drive, will be open to the public every weekday except for Friday. Virtual city services will be offered on Fridays.
