For the second time in a week, a moose caused some surprise and alarm for Colorado residents.

Friday night, an adult cow moose crashed into a Breckenridge home, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Geneva Nguyen, who was visiting the homeowner, was sleeping in the basement with her daughter when she was awakened by the sound of breaking glass, KDVR reported.

"I just see this big figure. There's lots of noise. I can hear myself screaming," Nguyen told the television station.

The homeowner, believing someone had broken into the residence, called police, KDVR reported.

There was no burglar, however -- just a moose that had fallen through a basement window and into the home, the television station reported.

"It appeared that the moose had been walking around outside the house in deep snow when it fell into a window well, then crashed through the window into a basement bedroom," Elissa Slezak, district wildlife manager with CPW, said in a news release Friday.

The moose was not hurt, Slezak said in the release. Wildlife officers tranquilized the animal and moved it out of the house.

The moose was then taken to "prime moose habitat" in Grand County, Slezak said.

Nguyen and her daughter suffered minor scratches, KDVR reported.

"Aside from the broken window, a few minor cuts and the initial shock to the homeowners, this situation went about as well as it could have," Slezak said in the CPW release. "Both the people inside the house and the moose made it out without any major injuries."

On March 10, rescuers in Keystone helped dislodge a young bull moose after it became trapped in a snowy window well.

It took workers six hours to free the animal, who was stuck in the 5-foot window well.
