You won’t want to leave your umbrella behind on Monday.

In fact, you’ll need it most of this week as summer showers continue, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Conditions are dry for the moment, with temperatures in the mid-70s. The morning is off to a muggy start with 87% humidity.

By lunchtime, though, temperatures will begin increasing toward the low 90s, according to Monahan.

He said Monday will be the hottest day of the week with a predicted high of 91 degrees.

“It’s going to be a hot start to the week, but it actually gets cooler as the week goes on,” Monahan said.

The remainder of the week will have highs in the mid- to upper 80s.

The chance of rain on Monday will move in lockstep with increasing temperatures. By 1 p.m., parts of North Georgia will see precipitation.

“That’s going to mean some scattered showers and storms for your afternoon, but also a good bit of sunshine,” Monahan said.

The storms won’t be as widespread as they were on Saturday or Sunday, he said. About 10 of the 14 daylight hours will be dry, according to Channel 2. That will change in the next few days.

“We are going to ease into those storm chances as we go into the week,” Monahan said.

By Tuesday, the chance of showers increases to 60%.

It’s a relatively easy ride through metro Atlanta, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. There are no major hangups, the Traffic Center reported.
