Whoever ransacked Alyssa Orenstein’s Marietta home during Thanksgiving didn’t just steal an engagement ring.

They took a piece of her late grandfather.

Now Orenstein is pleading for the return of the ring, which her grandfather gave to her grandmother more than 50 years ago, according to Channel 2 Action News. The ring was passed down to Orenstein when she became engaged in October.

Police investigating the break-in have not been able to recover any fingerprints, according to Channel 2.

Orenstein and her fiance are searching area pawn shops, hoping the ring will turn up.
