Marietta police are investigating a crash Saturday night that left one man seriously injured and damaged a police cruiser.

Miguel Zuniga was in serious but stable condition Sunday afternoon after the pickup truck he was driving struck a tractor-trailer, police said.

The accident happened just after 8 p.m. on the northbound exit ramps leading from Interstate 75 to Delk Road. A 2005 Freightliner tractor-trailer was stopped on the east side of the ramps when Zuniga, driving a 2005 Ford F-150, rear-ended it, police said.

The Freightliner’s driver, Kyle Forbes of Antioch, Tennessee, was not injured. Rescue workers took Zuniga from the wrecked Ford and took him to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

A Marietta police officer investigating the crash escaped injury when two cars clipped his cruiser, parked on the side of the ramps. Rescue workers took one motorist who hit the cruiser to Wellstar to be checked, too.

Police closed two right exit lanes to Delk Road to investigate the accident, but reopened them before daylight Sunday.

Any possible charges, police said, are pending.
