A man arrested for fatally shooting his ex-wife Christmas Eve has been indicted by a DeKalb County grand jury for murder.

Jake Jackson Jr., 32, faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, cruelty to children in the first degree and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jackson was indicted for murdering Tiffanie Phillips in what DeKalb County district attorney Robert James described as “a domestic dispute” that he said “quickly escalated …”

James noted that,“Three young children lost their mother on the eve of what should have been a holiday filled with joy, love and cherished memories.”

Phillips was shot in front of her son, according to the indictment, just outside of her apartment near Decatur.

Jackson was arrested on Dec. 29 outside a Walmart on Memorial Drive.
