Gwinnett County Police positively identified a man found on the side of the road late last month having a medical emergency as 62-year-old John Philip Rogers.

Rogers, of Duluth, was found experiencing cardiac arrest July 29 on the side of S. Old Peachtree Road near Lou Ivy Road, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center - Duluth in critical condition where he died days later.

Rogers’ identity was confirmed by his son, a resident of California, who flew in to make the ID, Gwinnett police said. He is a retired Gwinnett County School employee who lived alone near where he was found and reportedly took long walks or bike rides every day.
