A man was jailed on a murder charge after South Fulton police accused him of shooting a woman multiple times, killing her.

Quontavius Demarco Pickens, 30, turned himself in Monday on charges related to the death of Rechuna Kemp. The 29-year-old from Atlanta was found with several gunshot wounds in front of a home in the 6000 block of Birdseye Trail on Sunday, South Fulton police said. She died shortly after.

Police said the “subsequent investigation revealed Mr. Pickens as the suspect,” but did not specify how authorities linked him to the fatal incident. The police department did not say what led to the shooting.

Pickens was taken to the Fulton County Jail, where he remains. In addition to murder, he faces one count each of theft by taking, possession of a firearm during a felony, tampering with evidence and first-degree cruelty to children.
