A man is in custody nearly three months after he and a second suspect allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint at an Atlanta apartment complex.

Pedro Alvarez was taken into custody Friday in connection with the armed robbery, which happened Nov. 14 in the 500 block of Cleveland Avenue, Atlanta police said in a statement.

Investigators said Alvarez was armed with an AR-15 when he and an accomplice confronted the victim around 3 p.m. about “missing property.” Police did not specify what the property was.

At some point during the exchange, Alvarez fired the gun at the ground and then pointed it at the victim, police said.

Authorities said the accomplice, identified as Peter Roundtree, took several items from the victim, including an iPhone and wallet. Both suspects then ran away.

It is not clear how police identified Alvarez as a suspect, but investigators saw him get into a car in southwest Atlanta on Friday and pulled over the vehicle. When the driver stopped on Campbellton Road, Alvarez got out and tried to run away, police said. He was arrested after a brief chase.

Officers said they found a handgun, a bulletproof vest, marijuana, cocaine and “various pills” on Alvarez. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail, where he remains.

In addition to armed robbery, he is charged with terroristic threats, aggravated assault with intent to rob, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful wearing of a bulletproof vest, possession and use of drug-related objects, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of MDMA with intent to distribute, and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.

An arrest warrant was also issued for Roundtree’s arrest.
