A man already in the Fulton County jail is now accused of a July homicide, Atlanta police said Wednesday night.

Lamontez D’Shae Hinton, 22, has been charged with murder in the death of Kilon Williams, 24, of Atlanta, according to Officer Ralph Woolfolk.

Williams was found dead behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Impala at a northeast Atlanta restaurant early July 3, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. He had been shot in the chest, police said.

Investigators believe the shooting happened near the intersection of Ponce de Leon Avenue and Barnett Street, but Williams collapsed and died inside the car. No information has been released about a possible motive.

Hinton’s criminal history includes spending two years in state prison following a conviction on theft and fleeing charges, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was released from prison in July 2014, records showed.

In August, Hinton was re-arrested after violating the terms of his probation, Fulton County jail records showed. He was being held Wednesday night without bond.
