He ran a business performing medical tests and allegedly performed a breast and pelvic exam on at least one patient at his Cobb County clinic.
But Patrick Ikponmwosu Ogbebor doesn’t have a medical license, according to the Georgia Composite Medical Board. On Monday, Ogbebor, 47, remained in the Cobb County jail without bond, charged with practicing medicine without a license, aggravated sexual battery and sexual battery, jail records show.
“From what we’ve been able to determine, we can’t find anything to indicate he’s got a license,” Smryna police Officer Michael Smith told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Smyrna police began investigating Ogbebor, of Douglasville, in February after a female patient reported she had been inappropriately touched at Mosthouse Lab Test and Healthcare Clinic on South Cobb Drive, according to a warrant obtained by The AJC.
The woman told police she went to the clinic on Feb. 21 to get an immigration physical, which is required by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for those seeking citizenship. But Ogbebor allegedly told the woman he needed to perform breast and pelvic exams, despite the woman's objections, the warrant states.
“No other party was on site at the time the said accused was with the victim performing the said procedures of a ‘mammogram’ by hand and a pelvic exam, which neither fit the standard of the exams normally performed by a medical doctor,” the warrant states.
According to the clinic’s website, Ogbebor has been running his business since 2005 and performed a variety of medical tests.
"Mosthouse Lab Test and Healthcare Services offers an extensive array of blood work, drug and alcohol testing management services and support that can be tailored to meet the individual needs of your company and changing Federal and State drug and alcohol testing requirements," the website states.
Ogbebor was arrested Friday and booked into the Cobb County jail, where he remained Monday without bond.
Smyrna police believe it is possible that there are additional victims, Smith said. Anyone with information about the clinic is asked to contact Smyrna police at 770-434-9481.
