After an unseasonably warm start to the new year, the next few days are expected to get much cooler.
A cold front moved through the state on Saturday, drastically dropping temperatures across North Georgia, Channel 2 meteorologist Eboni Deon said.
Sunday morning will start off in the 30s, but the wind chill should make it feel even cooler.
“It’s definitely cooler,” Deon said. “Winter temps are returning and we’re really going to feel it.”
While Saturday reached the mid-50s, Sunday is expected to be about 10 degrees colder, topping out at 46 degrees in the city, Deon said.
The good news is that the clouds and isolated showers we saw through the first half of the weekend are behind us. While Sunday will be chilly, it should be much sunnier and dry.
“We’ll wake up to a clear start and plenty of sunshine, but our winds are going to be changing directions,” Deon said. “It’s going to feel like the 20s.”
Those chilly temperatures are expected to linger through the middle of the week, she said, and Monday morning will feel about 17 degrees with the wind chill.

“That arctic air is definitely moving into our area and we will notice it starting tomorrow morning,” she said.
As for traffic, weekend construction continues in Midtown, so be sure to give yourself extra time if you have plans in the area.
Road closures on 17th Street between State and West Peachtree streets continue until Monday, causing heavy delays around Atlantic Station, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
