A 15-year-old Paulding County boy died of a possible accidental drug overdose, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.

Foul play is not suspected in the death of Travis Jordan Ramsey on Sunday, Deputy Ashley Henson told the AJC. Henson said the teen's death is under investigation and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was expected to conduct an autopsy Tuesday afternoon.

"As of now, it looks as if it was an accidental overdose," Henson told the AJC.

Travis was a ninth-grader at East Paulding High School, according to Brian Otott, associate superintendent for Paulding County schools.

"The whole entire district and school community is grieving, the loss is just incredible," Otott said.

Additional counselors were at the high school Tuesday to support students and staff members, Otott said.

Deputies were called to home in the 200 block of Brooks Street, near Dallas, around 6 p.m. Sunday, according to an incident report obtained by the AJC. Inside a bedroom of the home, they found Travis dead in a bed, the report states. Investigators believe the teen died shortly before 2 p.m.

On a dresser in the bedroom, an investigator found an unidentified white powder, a straw and a knife with white powder on the blade, the report states.

Funeral services for Travis will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Bellamy Funeral Home, Hiram Chapel. Burial will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens.
